WHO writes new prescription to prevent misuse of antibiotics


                                   WHO estimates that more than 50% of antibiotics in many countries are used in appropriately for treatment of viruses,when they only treat bacterial infections or are the wrong choice of antibiotic, which contributing to the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
# The WHO issue new prescription - Rx : Keep it simple, to combat the growing menace of antibiotic abuse and burgeoning resistance world wide.
# It aims to increase the proportion of global consumption of antibiotics in the "Access" group to at least 60% and to reduce the use of antibiotics most at the risk of resistance.
# In India, Health Ministry has made it mandatory to display a 5 mm thick red vertical band on the packaging of the prescription - only drug to sensitive people to be cautious while buying these medicines that are widely sold without any prescription.
# WHO suggested the adoption of "Access, Watch and Reserve", that specifies which antibiotics to used for the most common and serious infections, which on is ought to be available at all time in the healthcare system and those that must be sparingly or reserved and used only as last resort.

# The new framework is aimed to facilitating further concrete action on marine waste, though on a voluntary basis, after the G20 Hamburg summit in Germany adopted the "G20 action plan on marine litter " in 2017. 
# Under new framework, G20 members will promote a comprehensive approach to prevent the reduce plastic litter discharge to the oceans through various measures and international cooperation.
